Czech President Milos Zeman will grant pardon to Jiri Kajinek, who is serving life sentence for contract killing. Kajinek, 56, is probably the best-known Czech prisoner. He gained popularity mainly by his spectacular escape from Mirov, the country's toughest-security prison in north Moravia, in 2000. The police caught him after about six weeks on the run. A court in Plzen, west Bohemia, sentenced Kajinek to life on June 23, 1998. He was convicted of shooting businessman Stefan Janda and his bodyguard, Julian Pokos, dead in Plzen in 1993. Another bodyguard survived the attack. Kajinek has pleaded not guilty since the beginning. A film based on his life story appeared in Czech cinemas in 2010.
