Stock Photo - 1963 - Like father Prince Charles will go to Gordonstoun. At last the news is out: Prince Charles will go to Gordonstoun, his father old school on the Moray Firth in Scotland. At the beginning of the summer term he will join Windmill Lodge, a house with 60 boys at the £519 a year, 400 pupil tough school. His headmaster will be Mr. F.R.G. Chew, who has run the school since 1959. The main aim of Gordonstoun, founded in 1934 by Dr. Kurt Hahn, is the development of character and initiative, with strong emphasis on self-discipline and physical endurance. There is no reason to expect that Prince Charles will enjoy any special privileges while he is at the school. Gordonstoun School: Knots, and how to tie them The instructor for this practical work is Daniel Main, once a local fisherman but now assistant instructor of seamanship under Commander R Shaw DSC RN retd.
