Its shoulders rests the investigation of crimes not only in Great Britain but the world as well, through interpool which deals with the major international rackets. These are the latest photograph of the yard at work. and shows aspects of the information room opened at the beginning of 1957. Here incidents within an area of 742 square miles - Metropolitan and City district of London are reported through the million calls received each year. A two way radio televised system sees to the needs of a population of nearly 9 million. In the fingerprint files, 1,350,000 sets of fingerprints are cataloged for ready reference.
