The Legend of Dr. Tom Dooley: London has just had a fleeting visit by a modest, shy young man. He is Dr. Tom Dooley, who like the folk song legend, knows he is going to die in eighteen months of Black cancer. 'I am the happiest guy alive' said Dr. Dooley, 32 year old ridden natives of Laos and Vietnam. In 1956 he created an International Medical relief organisation for the area and our hospitals. Now he was raised money for a further ten and is on his way back to Laos to supervise the construction of five of them. Recently he recieved a top award from the U.S. Medical Association. In the United States, he underwent several major operations. Now I am not sorry to die he said. What counts is the what counts is the way you live each day. At my hospital, which is at the end of the world. We rise at sun up to work throughout the day and don't finish till sunset. After operations to his chest and stomach, Dr. Dooley went on a whirl wind lecture tour, during which he raised 400,000 dollars 'enough money to look after a million kiddies'. His patients: 24,000 dirty, illiterate, opium-grow's tribesmen in 25 villages of the Monosing Valley, Laos, a few miles over the mountains from China. China Radio has branded hims as a spy and an American agent of Imperialism. They claim he holds wild Orgies with women, encouraged opium growing and distributes arms to the natives.
