Its done for the sheer excitement of the ride. Lods between and 18 years old congregate to take part in Britain's fastest growing sport-bicycle motorcross or BMX for short. The youngsters ride specially made bikes with heavy - duty tires which are ideal for bumpy-cross country tracks. Freestyle BMX is like gymnastics on a bicycle. The Dare Devil riders turn back flips, bunny hops, and the incredible wheelies. The sport originated in California and all riders must wear helmets, long sleeved skirts, goggles and gloves. Races are held all over the country every week-end drawing thousands of spectators to watch these youngsters leap, spin and turn somersaults in the air.
