Stock Photo - According to legend, Santiago de Compostella Cathedral is the reputed burial_place of Saint James. King Alfonso II ordered to build a chapel in the site that became the first pilgrim to this shrine. Construction of the present cathedral began in 1075. Construction was halted several times and according to temporary codex completed in 1211. Its architects were Bernard the elder and his assistant Robertus Galperinus and later possibly, Esteban.
