Stock Photo - Antonio Banderas The wind gently rustling the trees, and sunshine lighting up the softly lapping River Thames previously immortalised by artist Turner, typifies a summer’s day in London’s exclusive enclave, Richmond. In fact, Richmond is often described as the “Beverly Hills of Britain” thanks to its expensive property, stunning scenery, and the abundance of celebrities who have quietly set up home in the area, where detached properties cost an average £1million. From the old guard – Mick Jagger, Sir David Attenborough and Peter Townsend – to a new generation of A-list residents, Richmond shows no sign of waning in popularity. Jagger's former wife Jerry Hall is a long term resident and has a place in the suburb which she shares with new husband Rupert Murdoch. Curtain-twitching locals would find it hard not to be starstruck by the lastest stars to set up home in Richmond. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie formerly lived in the district’s Petersham area in 2012. With Brad back in Britain to film movies World War Z 2 and Five Seconds of Silence with Marion Cotillard, the pair were drawn back to the area in a search for the perfect abode to house two Hollywood egos and six children. It seems they found their dream property, as Brad was recently seen visiting a local plate pottery workshop one weekend with his brood. The family also stocked up at a retro toy and comic shop in the area to keep the children entertained. Just round the corner lives Mad Max: Fury Road star Tom Hardy and his actress wife Charlotte Riley. Once again, the couple had to splash out on a house suitable to turn into a family home, after welcoming their first child together last October. They opted for a property with potential and have spent the past two years remodelling the property to make it their perfect home. If Tom ever heads out for a morning jog, he might well run into Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, who lives just metres away. Antonio has opted to move into a stunning glass-front, prefabricated environmental house designed by German building firm HUF Haus, with his beautiful Dutch investment consultant girlfriend Nicole Kimpel. The actor has moved to London to study at Central Saint Martins, the art and design school that produced Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and John Galliano. When he’s not studying Antonio and Nicole certainly have a host of locations to choose from to spend quality time together. A popular choice for a romantic walk is the local Richmond Park. Comprising 955 hectares complete with 600 wild deer, the park is a picturesque location for a casual stroll. It’s also the location of choice for local celebrities looking to work up a sweat. Opera singer Katherine Jenkins lives next to the park and uses it for her morning jog, and she’s probably stepped up her routine since giving birth to her first child, daughter Aaliyah, last September. Radio and TV presenter Fearne Cotton, who tied the knot with Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood’s son Jesse in Richmond, is also a frequent visitor to the park with her children Rex and Honey, who love catching sight of the deer while running around on the lush green grass. Domestic goddess Fearne is also a keen visitor to the local tea rooms and cafes, such as Petersham Nurseries. The eatery recently hosted a star-studded guest list when the entire cast of Marvel’s The Avengers movie enjoyed a wrap dinner there. Cafe Dysart is also a popular choice among the celebrity residents of Richmond, thanks to its varied menu and stunning views over the River Thames.
