Stock Photo - Apr. 04, 1965 - The New Rover Gas Turbine BR.R.M. - 'Whispering Ghost' to take part in the Le Mans Race: For the first time the new Rover B.R.M. gas turbine engined sports car - will compare in the forthcoming 24 hour Le Mans race in June. It will compete on equal terms with the orthodox piston - engined cars in the 1600 c.c. or 2,00 c.c. class- yet to be decided. The new shaped 160-170 mile-an-hour car - which has taken the Rover and BRM workers thousands of hours to produce - has an engine developing 145 bhp - and has many modifications to the Rover which completed the Le Mans course at an average of 108 miles an hour - two years ago. The car is of composite aluminum and steel with a tubular steel spaceframe. She will be driven by the B.R.M. team drivers Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart. Photo Shows: View of the new sleek 170 M.P.H.
