Stock Photo - Bajada de La Rama Chica fiesta, San Pedro village, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. In a tradition that is said to date back to the original inhabitants of Gran Canaria, (The Guanches), locals walk up to the eucalyptus forests 1400 metres above the village the night before the fiesta, cut branches (Ramas in Spanish) from the trees and walk down the mountain to the village the following morning, dancing through the streets for hours before leaving the branches at the feet of an effigy of San Pedro (Saint Peter) outside the village church.
