Stock Photo - Dec. 12, 1962 - 'Stateless' Jacquilin - Arrives In Wales His First Day Of Freedom: Jacquim Reimunto (30) who says he comes from Uruguay - landed in Swansea, Wales - yesterday - after travelling 10,000 miles looking for a country prepared to 'adopt' him. He had lost his identity card some time ago - aftrer which Uruguay had no futher interest in him - and he says he has no relative there rither.He has been stowing away aboard varous ships since 1948 - having been Brazil - and many places in the United States - Eventually he stowed away aboard the s.s. Bristol City - bound - he thought for New York -- but landed up at Avonmouth. He was sent to prison for 28 days - but as that was not long enough for Home Office to sort out identify tangle - he had to say in jail for another 30 days. No solution was forthcoming so he was put aboard the s.s. Bristol City -m for New York. Americas refused him - and he was placed under an arm a ed guard - he escape - was recaptured and thought back to the ship. Meanwhile the British Home Office relented - and now for the first time he is tasting freedom - in Wales.
