The activists contend that the newly formed Washington Square Park Conservancy deems the vendors ´´unsightly´´ and wants to install mobile food carts selling upscale food. The conservancy is headed by Veronica Bulgari, wife of actor John Leguizamo, and is run by the wealthy and socially connected who the protesters claim wants to gentrify the park.
