Eva Gonzalès 1849–1883 was a French Impressionist painter and Gonzalès was a daughter of writer Emmanuel Gonzalès. In 1865 she took painting lessons from portraitist Charles Chaplin. In February 1869, Gonzalès became a student of artist Édouard Manet. Manet painted a portrait of her. This painting was completed on March 12, 1870.
