Stock Photo - EYE REHABILITATION<BR>Orthoptics is an ophthalmic field pertaining to the evaluation and treatment of patients with disorders of the visual system with an emphasis on binocular vision (such as strabismus and amblyopia) and strengthening the eye muscles with eye movements. Orthoptists are uniquely skilled in diagnostic techniques, clinical interpretation and therapeutic modalities. Testing the punctum proximum of convergence (PPC) allows an examinination of eye´s movement while approaching an object or point of light to the nose. The eyes should converge, focussing symetrically on the object. Normal PPC is about 3/4 from the nose.
