Stock Photo - Feb. 02, 1956 - British Company Produce World's Most Amazing Television Camera.For use in Atomic Piles: A special camera has been produced by Pye Ltd., of Cambridge - which is capable of being used inside an atomic reactor. It is now ready for use at the Atomic energy's factory in Cumberland. The cameras is based on normal industrial television equipment and has had to conform to certain origin specialization. Wing to the nature of its work - special materials had to be used i manufacture. For case of manipulation, the camera carries its own source of illumination - which consists of four small bulbs grouped around the camera lens. In addition a system of mirrors enables viewing from all angles. The camera is designed for remote control for use insde an atomic reacter. It is housed in a thin stainless steel casing 3 1/2 inches in diameter and 30 inches long. The whole apparatus involving the camera and its 75 ft of cable, the control unit and the monitor, is mounted on a trolley so that it is ready for instant use.
