Stock Photo - Feb. 09, 1961 - Runway Train Rams Houses eight People had Miraculous Escapes: Eight people had miraculous escapes from death when a 120-ton diesel train crashed through station buffers and a stone wall to plow across a road and through a row of terraced houses at 35-40 m.p.h. near Oldham, Lanos, yesterday. Driver harry Pearse sounded his horn for a quarter of a mile as the train hurtled out of control down a gradient platform. Five people- including three women - who had been asleep in the houses were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Two of them had been carried still in bed on the roof of the train.
