Stock Photo - Gyantse is located at an altitude of 13,000 feet . It is located on an old trade route between Chumbi Valley,Yatung and Sikkim,and also the Friendship Highway,which connected Kathmandu in Nepal to Lhasa in Tibet. It is often refered to as the Hero City,as in 1904,the 500 soldiers of the Gyantse fort reisted a siege by the British that lasted several weeks despite the superior equipment of the British.
