Ladakhs average of 300 days of sunshine per year makes this region especially suited for solar energy. The SECMOL Campus is located near the village of Phey in the Indus valley 18 km from Leh. It was in 1998 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The purpose of the campus is for Ladakhi youth to learn environmentally friendly practices to bring back to their villages and to continue and implement for future generations. The aim of the SECMOL campus is to be as self-reliant as possible in food and energy, and for our campus to be a model for an eco-friendly lifestyle. - PHEY, LADAKH, INDIA, 12/07/2010
