Tunku Abdul Rahman, the Chief Minister of the Federation of Malaya who will lead the new independent country photographed in Malayan costume at his home in Kuala Lumpur. The Chief Minister will also be the Minister for Internal Defence and Home Security and Minister for Home Affairs. The full title of the Tunku (Prince) is Abdul Rahman ibni Almarhum Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah. He was born at Alor Star (Kedah) on Feb. 8th, 1902, the seventh son of the then Sultan. He was at St. Catherine College, Cambridge after his earlier schooling in Malaya where he obtained a B.A. A Business at law, he was called to the Bar at the Inner Temple in 1949. He was the man who led the 'Merdeka Mission' in London. He played football for St. Catherine's and is president of the Football Association of Malaya. Is interested in aviation and is a member of the Kuala Lumpur Flying Club. The Tunku's wife is Sharifah Radziah, they have no children of their own, but have adopted two.
