Kempff, an important interpreter of classical and romantical piano music, was born in Juterbog near Berlin and lives in Ammerland/Upper Bavaria. Being the last presentative of the great German pianist tradition, he is still a celebrated solo player in the concert halls all over the world. The famous Beethoven-interpreter also gained a name for himself by the composing of operas, orchestra plays, choral-and chamber music.
