Yesterday saw a declaration by Truman workers of support for Grand Metropolitan Hotels' £34-million offer. They are worried about warnings that if its rival bidder Watney ManN, gets control, up to a quarter of the employees will be made redundant during the next five years. More than 200 workers at Truman's Stepney brewery stopped work for nearly an hour to discuss the situation.
