Stock Photo - Jul. 07, 1980 - Lady Mountbatten presents Cheque on behalf of the NSPCC: Countess Mountbatten of Burma (formerly Lady Brabourne), who has made a recovery following the incident last August in which her father Lord Mountbatten, her mother-in law, the Dowager Lady Brabourne and her twin son, Nicholas Knatchbull died, asked that instead of flowers, contributions to commemorate the name of Nicholas should be used to further the work of the NSPCC. Donations to this charity, of which the countess is Deputy Vice- Chairman have now reached ?1,733,51. Countess Mountbatten's wish is that the money be used to provide holidays for deprived and ber-aved children chosen from amongst those being helped by NSPCC in Northern Ireland from both Protestant and Catholic families. Photo shows lady Mountbatten with Bob Fryer, the Society's Regional Casework Supervisor for Northern Ireland after receiving the first cheque on behalf of his colleagues in Ulster at an informal ceremony in London today.
