Stock Photo - Jun. 06, 1955 - World's First Guided Missile Control Gear Handed Over To Imperial War Museum: Lord Brabazon this morning handed over to the Imperial War Museum - the control gear of the world's first guided missile - in the box 2 ft. long and 1 ft. wide - on behalf of the inventor Professor A.M. Low. They were the actual controls of a flying-bomb invented during the early part of the 1914-18 War and flown in 1917 -and of a guided missile invented in 1918. These exhibits will prove to the world that Britain was first - with Guided missiles - in spite of reports claiming that so many other countries were first - including Germany; America; France; Italy and Russia. All patents of the earliest missiles were kept secret until 1923. Photo shows View of the models of Professor Low's Guided Missile and Guided Rocket - at the Museum this morning.
