Stock Photo - Jun. 06, 1974 - 34 die and many injured in blast at Chemical Plant Flixborough near Scumthrope; At least 34 people were killed last night after a massive explosion ripped through the Nypro Chemical Plant at Flixborough near Scunthorpe, Lincolcshire. The explosion was heasd 30 miles away Some of the injured were from the village of Flixborough which took the full force as a huge cloud of poison gas poured from the factory. The Blaze from the explosion is not expected to be put out for at least 48 hours.
