The body has a high round neck, shoulder flaps and three-quarter pagoda sleeves. The skirt is clocking, has a split on the front and a round trail. The motifs are made from bobbin lace with needle lace decorative stitches - Brussels duchesse - that is appliqued on machine tulle. The neck line is a bow with a 'garden trophy' consisting of a garden hat, shepherd's staff and rake. This 'trophy' is repeated in the five large medallions along the bottom edge of the trail and the front. A finer tulle is used in the medallions and the edges are made of daisy wreaths. Variations on the bow at the neckline also repeat themselves several times. Other motifs are rose garlands and there is a scatter pattern of berries, leaves and flower twigs all over the dress.
