The Burmese Buddhist Temple (also known as Wat Chayamangkalaram) in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia, is located off Jalan Burma and was built in 1803. It is the oldest Thai temple in Malaysia and houses the longest reclining Buddha statue outside of Thailand. The temple is home to approximately 300,000 Burmese migrants and their families. The temple has many Burmese sculptures and decorations, such as impressive tall teak wood pillars, murals, and intricate woodcarvings. Devotees offer prayers and offerings to the prominent Buddha statue on certain Buddhist holidays. The temple grounds contain a library, restaurant, and gift shop selling Burmese items and souvenirs.
