The building features a unique lime-based plastered dome, matched with a 10-foot tall gatehouse made of Mughal-styled lattice screens. There is also a large prayer hall with its ceiling decorated with high ornamental architecture and carvings. Masjid Kapitan Keling serves as a place of worship for the local Muslim community and is a popular tourist destination in Penang, thanks to its unique architecture.
