Stock Photo - Malaysia, Penang, Georgetown, St George's Church. St. George's Church is an Anglican Episcopal Church established in 1818 in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia. It is one of the oldest churches in the country, having survived both World War II and the 2004 tsunami. The neo-classical structure is a popular tourist destination in Penang, and its white façade stands out against the otherwise low-rise neighborhood nearby. The church has multiple stained glass windows depicting Bible scenes and figures from the Church of England, including St. George and the Dragon. The ceiling is a bright and airy double-decker with ornate wooden posts, and the interior is kept cool by the air-conditioning system with the addition of ancient fans. Other features include a grand organ and pipe organ, an old bell built in 1867, and various paintings that tell the church's history. Every Sunday, services are conducted in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
