Built in the early 19th century, the two-story mansion was once the residence of prominent Penang lawyer Syed Al-Attas, who was the leader of the Indian Muslim Community. The house was then inherited by his descendants, who still own the property. The grand and ornately decorated mansion has many exciting and unique features, including a long balcony on the second floor, tall white columns, and intricate decorations. Recently, the mansion has been restored and is now open as an antique and art gallery, housing an extensive collection of artifacts, furniture, and antiques collected by the owners over the years. While the second floor is home to the family’s collection of paintings, furniture, books, and photographs, the ground floor is open to the public.
