In Central Asia, certain pre islamic beliefs have been incorporated into the newly arrived religion ( i.e. islam). Traditionally, hunters ( accompanied by shamans) had to please the master spirit of the animal they wanted to kill before going to hunt. Here is an example of hunters ( and shamans) worshipping the master spirit of the marco polo sheep before going to hunt these sheeps.
