The baby is Joyce McDonagh,youngest of the six children of Thomas and Lily McDonagh,from Newton Le Willows, Lanca.Waiting for them at Holly Hill,South Carolina are Sergeant George Viansky of the US Air Force and his wife.The story started when Sergeant Viansky was stationed in Britain near the McDonaghs. Soon after Joyce was born her mother became ill,and the Sergeants wife cared for the child,Mrs Viansky,told she would have no more children after the birth of her son-he is seven now-became more and more devoted to Joyce. She mothered her until she had to leave with her husband,posted home last May.The Sergeant and Mr McDonagh tried to get a visa for Joyce to go to America.It was refused until a few days ago.From the Vinanskys came the 250L for Joyce's one way airfare and her mother's return ticket.
