Stock Photo - NEPAL Langmoche -- Dec 2005 -- Pretty but lethal. . . a small morrain dyke is the only defence of a glacial overburst spill from Dig Tsho lake into the Langmoche Khola River here at the top of the Langmoche Valley. Scientists say these huge Himalayan glaciers are melting fast which could threaten Asia's water supply in the future having a devastating impact on the region's agriculture. This lake burst in 1985 washing away several houses and many hectares of pasture land. In total, damage was estimated at US$5m.
