At this time of year (pre-Monsoon) the river has a low volume of water flow. This changes in the Monsoon and scientists say that glacial melts in the high Himalaya will affect river levels in coming years - leading to widespread flooding, then droughts, across Asia - from the Indus in Pakistan to the Yellow in China. Scientists at the WWF (and many others) say that global warming is the reason behind the increasing loss of ice caps and glaciers around the world, leading to the swelling of rivers like the Sun Khosi.
