Stock Photo - Northern Damselfly coenagrion hastulatum clinging to grass blade after heavy May overnight rainfall near a pond in Prague Czech Republic. Thorax is rose or lavendar with two black spots at base of tail. Characteristic marking of the Northern is barely distinguishable at top of the tail. It looks to be an Azure, but is more likely a Northern due to spots on base of tail. This is a common variant coloring of local damselflies in Jinonice Prague. The damselflies eat raindrops and do not fly well after heavy rain, but still try to evade photographers by clinging close to grass or scooting around it when they perceive they are watched.
