This latest venture of the BSC's Natural History Unit (West Region) is a programme which aims at an unsentimental and exciting presentation of the animal world. In the pursuit of a complete understanding of animal life the zoologist becomes a decided parson. The more he tries to determine the origin of species the more fields of enquiry to uncovers. This should become apparent in the first item of of the programme 'Dogs and Cats'. Dues Mond Morris, Quarter of Mammals of the London Zoo, sets out to discover the origin of the domestic dog, but his conclusions is inconclusive. As producer Ronald Webster says: 'If we pose questions we don't necessarily propose to provide definite answers. There may may yet be none.'
