Stock Photo - Nov. 11, 1963 - The London Opera Centre Begins It's Career As A Training Ground For Young Opera Singers: The London Opera Centre has now begun it's career opera singers, coaches, and as a rehearsal stage for the Covent Garden Opera Company. The centre was formerly the premises of the old Troxy cinema in Commercial Road, Stepney, once a favourite of the dockers and their families, which has now been converted and taken over by the Covent Garden Opera house, and sponsored by the Arts Council. Photo shows A general view showing the circle seating which has been retained, while the stalls have been cleared and replaced by a giant stage capable of reproducing the various levels of the Covent Garden Stage, and ending the problems hitherto encountered in rehearsing on the flat shallow stage of the Covent Garden annexe.
