The trawler 'Orsino' the Support Ship for the fishing fleet off Iceland, was leaving Hull to take up her winter station. She will remain there until the end of April giving weather advice and checking on the safety of trawlers in the area. The 'Orsino', a stern trawler of 1574 gross tons has been chartered by the Board of Trade from Northern Trawlers Ltd, of Hull. She has been adapted to operate radio equipment and has a dispensary, a surgery and a hospital. In addition to her normal complement she will have a Weather Advisory Officer (the officer in charge of operation), a Meteorological Officer, a Medical Officer, 4 radio officers and a sick berth attendant. The Weather Advisory Officer is Lt. CDR. T. Russell-Walling, R.N. (Rtd.) who will be relieved later by CDR. C.P. Adams, R.N. (Rtd.) Dr. R.W. Scott of Harrowgate will act as Medical Officer for the first six weeks of the operation. He will then be relieved by Dr. I.K.S. Mackay of Lanark who will serve for the next six weeks until relieved by Dr. T. Dinsdale of Manchester. Dr. Scott will go back to 'Orsino' for the last period of the operation.
