Stock Photo - Oct. 10, 1965 - NEW WOMAN ANNOUNCER FOR REDIFFUSION TV PROGRAMMES. ANN ALDRED, who has joined Rediffusion Television's team of announcers, will be the first girl announcer to be seen regularly in the evenings by Rediffusion's viewers since Independent Television began ten years ago. Ann's television experience has been acquired in Rhodesian Television, where she quickly became a popular figure, and Neil Bramson, Head of Presentation at Rediffusion, believes she has an exceptional gift for talking naturally about programmes and about events. Ann's first evening appearance will be just before 9 o'clock on Monday evening and she will appear from time to time when she has an interesting point to contribute to the evening's entertainment. In answer to the question 'Why, all of a sudden, an announcer in vision?', Neil Bramson replied: 'Because of Ann. Her personality and ability make a stronger argument then any theoretical objection to announcer in vision'. Ann, was born in Derby, England, is 29, and has lived in Zambia for 7 years and for the last two years in Salisbury, Rhodesia. She is married with 2 children and lives in South Kensington.
