Stock Photo - Oct. 10, 1968 - Norwegian Oil Tanker Ablaze Off Eastbourne The sea front at Eastbourne was closed to traffic this afternoon because of the danger of more explosions from the 15,500-ton Norwegian oils tanker Sitakund, which is ablaze about a mile off shore. The tanker, which caught fire in the English Channel last night was described as a potential bomb. The captain and six members of the crew were taken aboard the British Rail Tug Meeching, and the 31 other members of the crew which were taken of last night landed at Portsmouth this morning and taken to hospital with burns and minor injuries from the Royal navy Frigate Mohawk.
