Stock Photo - Oct. 19, 1962 - Bowler Hat, White Shirt, Dark Jacket and ladies pink silk panties: There was quite a sensation in the London Magistrate's Court - when the Police Constable gave evidence in the case against eighteen year old Timothy Hawkins an engineering student of Muswell Hill. For Timothy was accused of 'Insulting Behavior'. He had been arrested by the constable when he was walking in Park Lane dressed in a bowler hat, white shirt, blue tie, dark grey jacket and a pair of ladies pink silk panties trimmed with lace and no trousers. The man also had a furled umbrella which he was waving about. He asked the policeman 'Where's the Park Lane Hotel?'. Hawkins plead 'Not Guilty' and explained to the court that as part of his North amptor- college (Islington) annual rag he had a certain task to do in fancy dress. The charge was dismissed. Photo shows Timothy Hawkins in his strange and unusual garb escorted by the policeman when arrested on the 'insulting behavior' charge. We makes quite a comical picture.
