Stock Photo - Philip Hermogenes Calderon, artist and Royal Academician, 1882. Calderon (1833-1898) initially studied engineering before deciding to pursue a career as a painter. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1853, becoming a Royal Academician in 1867, and being appointed Keeper of the Royal Academy in 1887.
