Stock Photo - Piazza della Minerva is a small Roman square (piazza), located behind the ancient temple of the Pantheon. The square is named after the goddess Minerva. In the middle of the piazza, Bernini erected in 1665 an obelisk, carried by an elephant, made by his pupil Ercole Ferrata. The base was provided with an inscription, written by Pope Alexander VII, which states that a strong spirit (the elephant) is needed to carry so much wisdom (the obelisk). Photo: André Maslennikov
