Stock Photo - Pika (Ochotona princeps). Colorado. Inhabits talus slopes and rock slides usually near timberline and high mountains. Lives in colonies. Each pika has a territory within the colony at least in autumn. Related to rabbits. Feeds on grasses and herbs. Stores food in small piles of ´hay´ beneath boulders. Does not hibernate. Spends the winter surviving on stored food often beneath a thick cover of snow. Makes a series of whistle-like calls
