The Plaza is a large open-air space with a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, and other shops. The square is also home to the iconic San Mateo Church, whose facade features unique Plateresque (Renaissance) and Mudéjar (Islamic art) elements. The church was built on the site of the old Mosque of the Leathers in 1524, and is still an active parish today.
