He is known for his many portraits of important figures of the 18th century, in particular, his biography of King Louis XV of France. The most famous of his works are his bronze statues, which may still be seen in Verdun today. He also produced numerous portrait prints of those living in his time, including Voltaire and Diderot. While some of his works may be seen in European museums such as the Louvre, many of his portraits of figures of the 18th century are only available in Gallery and private collections.
