Her paintings were so well received as one of the finest portrait artists of Great Britain. She studied with George Frampton and later at the Royal Academy and founded her studio in Bayswater, London, in 1908. Her works were often marked with a bright palette and a sense of freshness and light. She used bold shapes, careful detail, and at times daring composition. She often painted society figures, contemporaries, and even individuals who posed for her. She also painted many members of Royal families, including the Prince of Wales, the Duke of York, and the Empress of Russia. In terms of the work technique, Bailey employed a loose brush and palette, leaving her hand free to exploit light and manipulate shadow and texture. She also used observation of posture and position to capture the subjects in her works better. Bailey had numerous solo exhibitions, showing many royal portraits and landscapes in 1912, 1919, and 1920. She also exhibited her paintings at the Royal Academy of Arts in London from 1910 to 1925 and was an associate member from 1914.
