When scrap dealer Sid Lawrence and his wife spotted an orange-painted metal container lying in the gutter, they both agreed that 'It was a nice bit of scrap'. The Lawrence's took it home and put it in their garden - not knowing that inside the container was a highly-dangerous radio-active isotope, lost from a lorry. Two of their children played with it - and all the time the police of six counties were looking for it. Scotland Yard had warned If the container is broken it will be highly dangerous'. Mrs. Lily Lawrence, of Wealdatone, heard the truth about the container in a radio news bulletin yesterday. She rushed into the garden, shoved the thing in her shopping bag and took it to the police station.
