Stock Photo - Small Blue, Cupido minimus. Sexual dimorphism. Male has blue upper wings and female is brown. Wingspan: 16-27mm. Silvery underwing with black eyespots. Habitat: calcareous grasslands, abandoned quarries, woodland clearings and edges. Small Blue can live in colonies. Catrpillars may be cannibalistic when there are many eggs deposted on single plant. Larvae are attended by Lasius niger and Myrmica rubra ants. Host plant: Kidney Vetch, Anthyllis vulneraria.
