Agricol Perdiguier was a French joiner and trade unionist from Avignon in the Vaucluse region of southern France. He is celebrated for his memoirs, which depict the life of a 19th-century journeyman. He was born in 1788 and worked in Avignon and nearby towns, traveling to other French cities and countries in search of work. In 1834 he returned to Avignon and established a trade union, the Compagnonnage des Devoirs Unis, and published his memoirs, Le Compagnonnage, in 1837.
