The painting is also cited as an example of anamorphosis in painting. Within the painting there are a number of scientific and mathematical elements: Shepard dial, Universal equinoctial dial, Quadrant, Polhedral Sundail, Torquetum and Peter Apian's arithmetic book. By Hans Holbein the Younger (1497 - 1543) German artist and printmaker in the Northern Renaissance style. Dated 1533
