Stock Photo - The devastating fire which broke out on 18th November 1987 at approximately 19:30 at King\'s Cross underground station, London. The fire started on a wooden escalator serving the Piccadilly Line. As the first members of the London Fire Brigade were investigating, the fire suddenly flashed over, filling the underground ticket office with heat and smoke. 31 people were killed. London Underground faced criticism regarding their attitude to underground fires at a public enquiry, which led to the introduction of new fire safety regulations.
